The media is one of the most influential and popular ways of persuasion known today. It reflects ideas that people hold and can be led to you by almost anything. Some different ways the media can be shown include magazines, newspapers, television, and radio. As i began my observing of how much media is presented in my daily life, i noticed that the media surrounds everything i do. Different ideas, interests and tastes are fed to me throughout my everyday routines. Billboards, candy wrappers, commercials and tabloids are just view of the many things that catch my eye. With there catchy slogans and bold headlines it is hard not to give all your attention to what is being presented to you.
As much as i would love to think that the media does not affect me, there is no way of escaping it. One thing that i noticed through my studies was how the media can be affecting me subconsciously. For example, i can be focused on work and hear a soft sound of music in the background. I then find myself humming that same tune an hour later as i sit at home. The media is very powerful in today's society and play a scary roll in the way we think. In my opinion, I feel as if we are being overexposed to the media in many different ways. It seems to be that everywhere i go, i cannot go 10 minutes without seeing that famous " M" arch after every block i pass. Although i find this advertisement ridiculous, i strangely think back to the commercials that i see repeating over and over each day. I picture how delicious the foods look on the commercial and shamelessly give into the greasy fat food. I then notice how different my meal looks like from the one on the advertisement, and warn myself to not cave in again. After recently studying all aspects of the media, i am now a lot more aware of everything around me. I tend to notice little things from the media that i would not have discovered before.
